6,7 Dihydroxybergamottin is a furanocoumarin. This ingredient is generally present in grapefruit. It is also present in bergamot oil from which it derives its name. To a lesser extent it is even available in other citrus fruits and essential oils. Consuming 6, 7 dihydroxybergamottin supplements have an affect on the metabolism of various pharmaceutical drugs. 6, 7 Dihydroxybergamottin inhibits isforms of cytochrome P450 enzyme, especially CYP3A4. It is because of this feature that the enzyme prevents oxidative metabolism of some drugs, which results in accumulation of the drug in the bloodstream. According to some clinical studies 6, 7 dihydroxybergamottin hamper the body’s ability to digest caffeine, thereby extending its presence in the body. Patients under medication must therefore avoid consuming grapefruit and related supplements.
Acacia Gum- Helps support digestion and the elimination of food.
Caffeine is the most widely available legal psychoactive stimulant drug. Also known as theine, methyltheobromine and trimethylxanthine, this xanthine alkaloid is not only found in coffee beans, but also in guaranine that is derived from guarana, mateine derived from mate, theine which is found in various teas and the kola nut, which is the base flavor of various Cola soft drinks. It stimulates the central nervous system, where it restores alertness and wards off drowsiness. Caffeine is also know to display certain diuretic properties, is an ergogenic, an atagonist of the adenosine receptors, and a cAMP levels increasing factor. It seems that caffeine helps prevent the onset of Parkinson’s disease and in the long run lowers the possibility of developing a heart disease.
Cassia Extract, also known as Cinnamomum aromaticum or Cinnamomum cassia, is a species in the Family Lauraceae, a very close relative of Cinnamomum verum, or cinnamon. Just like the more famous true cinnamon, the aromatic bark is being used as a spice. Cassia trees are evergreens and can grow up to fifteen meters tall. Interestingly enough, in the United States and Canada, Cassia is sold as cinnamon, the spice, and the true cinnamon, the C. verum, is largely unknown. It is native to Asia, mainly south of China, India, Vietnam and Bangladesh. Cassia bark is one of the fifty fundamental herbs of the traditional Chinese medicine and recent studies have established that Cassia extract may lower the fasting blood sugar. The caused insulin sensitivity is due to the ingredients polyphenols.
Citrus Aurantium is the Latin name for a citrus tree which grows bitter oranges. Traditionally being used by Chinese medicine and herbologists, the extract of the orange and the peel was used as a dietary supplement in concoctions with other herbs to suppress appetite. While other active ingredients of the citrus aurantium may contribute and even promote the effect, the main ingredient used in all weight loss products is synephrine, an alkaloid similar to ephedrine. It is a phenethylamine; it influences the alpha1 adrenergic receptor, constricting blood vessels, additionally increasing the heart rate and the blood pressure. In most cases the use of synephrine is paired with a diet and body building plan, where weight loss and muscle building is essential.
Coleus Forskohlii, contains forskolin, a labdane diterpene which boosts cAMP. Forskolin performs a variety of cellular functions like inhibiting release of histamine, stimulating the thyroids as well as burning fat. The plant belongs to the Lamiaceae family and is readily found in the mountainous terrains of Asia. Forskolin, a root extract of the plant Coleus forskohlii also has many clinical uses. It is used to treat ailments like asthma, angina, epilepsy, cardiovascular dilation to name a few. Since the plant is known to promote fat loss, it is also used in various weight loss and body building supplements. Forskolin aids weight loss by controlling the enzyme, responsible for burning fat. Hoodia Gordonii, which although popular, has no published randomized controlled trials in humans to show hoodia is safe or effective in pill form. One study published in the September 2004 issue of Brain Research found that injections of p57 (The Active ingredient in Raw, Fresh Cut Hoodia, not dried) into the appetite center of rat brains resulted in altered levels of ATP, an energy molecule that may affect hunger. The animals receiving the P57 injections also ate less than rats that received placebo injections. However, this was an animal study and INJECTIONS IN THE BRAIN are very different from oral consumption, so it cannot be used to show that oral hoodia can suppress appetite in humans. Hoodia Gordonii is a succulent (a cactus of the aloe family) found in the Kalahari desert of South Africa. Most Hoodia Gordonii products contain very little, if any of the active ingredient needed to suppress hunger. Real Hoodia is very rare and is even an endangered plant. Most importantly, Hoodia has only demonstrated any effect in fresh, raw pieces of the plant. The effectiveness of powdered Hoodia has yet to be shown and may actually increase hunger. It's main use is as a cheap alternative to the more expensive weight loss herbs, which are the only alternative left after the banning of ephedra. Most supplement manufacturers can not use the more expensive weight loss herbs because it will result in a product that would be too expensive to compete with other more popular inexpensive diet supplements.
Jaborandi Extract
L-5 Hydroxytryptophan, also known as Griffonia seed extract or L-5-HTP, is produced naturally from the Griffonia simplicifolia trees in West Africa. Africans have been using the extract for centuries for a natural wound healer and cure for kidney infections. L-5 Hydroxytryptophan has traditionally been used for many other treatments as well, including as a combat for stomach problems, to produce a higher libido, and as an internal cleanser. In recent times, L-5 Hydroxytryptophan’s best attribute has been its indication to increase serotonin levels in the brain, which means it works similarly to many antidepressants on the market, but in a natural form. This increase in serotonin provides users with a sense of serenity and calm as it is a natural tranquilizer.

Yohimbe- Basically a tree bark, Yohimbe is rich in pharmacologically active chemicals. It is commonly found in products developed for body building and enhancing male performance. The use of Yohimbe causes serious side effects too that include renal failure, seizures and in very rare cases, even death. Individuals suffering from low blood pressure, heart disease, liver or kidney disease, and diabetes should refrain from using any kind of Yohimbe supplements. Taking larger doses of Yohimbe can cause weakness, stomach disorders, fatigue, and nervous stimulation followed by paralysis. It is therefore important to avoid self-medication. Sometimes, side effects may arise even if small amounts of this supplement are taken, especially for prolonged periods.
